FAQ

We are not taking orders yet. These are the rules the shop will run on — escrow on every order, 5% plus 30¢ from the tyer at payout, US shipping only.

The shop

Why use this platform?

A DM is not a store. This is the only true fly tying marketplace that focuses on fly fishing with the security for buyer & seller in mind. Flies sold on Instagram or in a club chat only reach people who already know the tyer, and the post is gone in a week. Every shop and listing here is a public page — pattern name, hook size, materials, photos — written so search engines can read it. Someone looking for a Parachute Adams or a size 16 pheasant tail can land on the fly without knowing who tied it. Buyers get escrow on every order. Tyers get a shop people can find.

Why sell here?

No listing fees — putting a fly up costs nothing, and nothing to keep it up. This is the only true fly tying marketplace that focuses on fly fishing with the security for buyer & seller in mind. Seller fees stay low: 5% plus 30¢ per order, taken when the payout releases. The shop is a public page people can find in search, and every sale sits in escrow until the box arrives.

Buyers

Is it safe to buy flies here?

Every order is held in escrow. Stripe takes the payment at checkout and we do not release it to the tyer until the flies arrive. If something is wrong, you have three days after delivery to open an issue and freeze the payout.

How do I know what I am getting?

Listings are hand-tied flies, not used rods. Each one shows the pattern, hook size, materials, photos, and whether it is in stock or made to order. If a tyer knows about a flaw, it has to be in the listing.

What if the flies do not match the listing?

Use the order thread first. If that goes nowhere, open a dispute within three days of delivery. We review the listing, the photos, and the messages, then refund, release, or work to find a solution.

How does shipping work?

You pick Ground Advantage or Priority Mail at checkout, quoted from the tyer’s package size and your address. They ship with a tracked label. US only at launch.

Can I make an offer on the listed price?

No. The price on the listing is the price.

Sellers

What can I sell?

Hand-tied flies — dry, nymph, streamer, wet, terrestrial, saltwater, custom. Not rods, reels, or waders. Listings that use protected or regulated materials get reviewed before they go live.

How much does it cost to sell?

5% plus 30¢ of the flies, taken when payout releases. No listing fees. Postage is paid by the buyer and is not part of your payout. Example: flies $20.00, postage $5.72, buyer pays $25.72. Flies: $20.00 Fee: 5% plus 30¢ = $1.30 Your payout: $18.70

When do I get paid?

Not at checkout. Payment sits in escrow until the buyer confirms delivery, or three days after the carrier marks delivered with no dispute. The 5% plus 30¢ comes out then. You also have to finish Stripe payouts (ID and bank) before we can send money.

Will I get a 1099?

Sales are taxable whether a form shows up or not. Stripe files a 1099-K only if you cross $20,000 in payments and 200 transactions in a calendar year — the same rule other popular marketplaces use. Most people who tie on the side never hit it. Legal name, Social Security number or EIN, and your bank account go to Stripe. We do not store those numbers.

How do I ship after a sale?

Pick envelope, mailer, small box, or large box when you list. Postage is quoted at checkout. After a sale you’ll print a tracked label from the seller dashboard.

What if a buyer disputes the flies?

We look at the listing, the photos, and the order messages. If the flies match what you described, funds release. If they do not, we refund or find a solution.

Account

Is my payment information secure?

Payments run through Stripe. We never store card numbers on our servers.

Can I create an account now?

Yes — email and password, or Google. The shop is not open, so an account only holds your place. You can also join the waitlist without making a login.

How do I verify my account?

Email at signup. Tyers also connect Stripe for payouts. Higher-volume sellers may need identity verification before they can cash out.

What if I need to cancel an order?

Before it ships, either side can cancel and the hold goes back to the buyer. After it ships, use the issue flow — handmade flies are not a free return. There may be a fee by the seller depending on materials if an order is cancelled after it is started.
